I stopped writing and I hate it. I've got drawers full of notebooks with old work stuff from previous jobs, ideas, notes, drawings and I keep them around because I know one day in the future when I'm old and with grey hair it'll be fun to revisit my thoughts. When I was a kid I used to go to my grandpa's room and dig through his old stuff and I remember finding his old notebooks that were just fascinating to me. They were his high-school notebooks, all with perfectly preserved pages. What was so captivating for me was the fact that his handwriting and drawings were nearly perfect, like they were printed.
I bet if he saw my writing now he would scold me. Not only is my writing sloppy but I write in print latin letters. Honestly I don't write in cyrilic ever since I finished school and that was annoying for me at the time. I like to say that as soon as I learned latin, I never wanted to use cyrilic again. My notes are my pure thoughts and unlike majority of my circle I actually think in English. It's hard to explain but my brain just works like that. It's like having an on/off switch but instead it's serbian/english. I never made a conscious effort to measure or quantity this in exact numbers but my gut feeling is that for most of the day I actually have the switch on english side rather than serbian. Work and media is 90% english and conversations with friends and family are 99% in serbian. As I'm sitting here I realize I'm 3 pages deep into this note but like I said in the beginning I haven't written anything in a long time and I hate it. That's why this note is much longer than the rest - it's my bare unfiltered thoughts hitting the paper. Now I'm actually looking forward to getting back into the habit of writing.
